Sunday School: Sunday school Pizza Night

On Sept 15, 2009 six families, Ron Jeffrey and 4 members of the Church Council met for a Pizza Supper at the church.  Good weather allowed a picnic on the lawn and followed by discussion on how to meet the needs of the children and youth in our congregation.  The kids, as well as the parents had many suggestions.  They like Sunday school, especially the cookies, and enjoy the mixed ages meeting together while adult worship occurs in the sanctuary.   Intergenerational services should be planned a few times a year with lots of involvement for children.  They showed plenty of enthusiasm for service projects like the penny drive, so we will pursue another activity like this later in the year. We will develop a KIDS ZONE, a small play area with toys and books, for parents and tots downstairs by the youth bulletin board.  New activities that may evolve are outdoor pursuits and some mid-week sessions for children in grades 5 to 8.  We are delighted that both parents and members of the congregation are ready and willing to provide leadership for Sunday School and other activities.
